The Box
So I've decided to make a mobile box for my Rack Mount American Audio Velocity. I purchased it second hand in 2010, September 25th. It was at that time that I was given the opportunity to become one of the resident DJ's at Black Orchid and I needed a lot of practice.
After losing quite a bit of weight... in my wallet!, I needed a place to keep these components. It so happen that the TV stand in my parents bedroom was ideal. It was as though they were meant to be together. After some convincing, dad gave in and this is where it stayed.
The equipment was as reliable as a broken clock, which is aqurate only twice a day. I did however get the practice i needed as well learned a lot of patience. As the years went by, I acquired more practice from my friends equipment which left mine neglected. UNTIL! I had experienced the power of Traktor!
I had taken the time out 2 evenings in the week to open up these components and try my hand at servicing them. At first the fear of cleaning the laser had gotten to me and I had did it with an earbud and the laser cleaning fluid. I couldn't tell if I had made the situation better or worse as the CD was still not reading smoothly.
I was a slight infuriated, so much for learning patience. I open the player once again and this time aimed to clean it like the way we rub our eyes when we're tired, vigorously. To my surprise it worked! It now played every CD I had inserted and my eyes started to sparkle with delight. That night I had played a 2 hour set which took me into the morning hour.
The next day was the Traktor experience with timecode CD's. It worked! I could have cried like a little girl who receives a litle puppy as a gift for her good behaviour and disipline. Sniff sniff, ...but i didn't.
Now I was determined to make this more mobile. Buying an expensive box was totally out of the question. I am saving up for a Macbook and Controller! I planned to build one instead. This is one of my many talents. Building and experimenting. Making and breaking... of late it has been more of making rather that breaking. I think its a maturity thing.
A neatened digital depiction.
Measurements to determine the material required.
The actual measuring and work begin.
With patience and skills, you get results! Everything was fastened in to make sure the frame was sturdy.
Now I am certainly not a rapper but decided to try my hand at wrapping instead.
You've been framed, I mean the framed has been wrapped. I also required a handle in this situation. I finally got a grip!
Wrapped the panels and began to fasten them to the frame.
Finito!!!
