Lakshya (2004)

Lakshya (2004) meaning "goal" or "target". I also believe that it could mean "purpose".

This movie inspired me greatly! I could identify with certain aspects of this story. As a young, confused man (Karan Shergill played by Hrithik Roshan) who didn't quite know what was his "Lakshya" in life.

Everyone around him seems to have a plan of action for their future but he is left thinking "why am I this way". His girlfriend, Romi (Preity Zinta), encourages him to get a goal in life.

A friend mentions that he would join the army as his country needs him. Karan also applies and surprisingly gets accepted. His friends, however, back out. Karan being undisciplined and spoiled, life is different there and keeps getting into trouble. Discouraged, he escapes which causes a break up with Romi.

The change begins as he makes that decision to stick with the plan. He takes his punishment and becomes a disciplined, focused leader in the battle field.

As a now reporter, Romi tries to renew her relationship with Karan amidst the war. Karan realizes that he has finally found his Lakshya, which was not Romi but the goal to scale a 1000-foot rock wall to attack the enemy from behind.

That's as far as I am in my life. Sticking to that goal, purpose, LAKSHYA!
